SKILLS DEVELOPED IN THE FARM SET:
TACTILE SENSE little hands are exposed to various textures, shapes and weights through the legumes, corn and shavings provided.
BILATERAL INTEGRATION by using both hands to play in the tray, children are learning to integrate sensations from both sides of their bodies.
FINE-MOTOR SKILLS picking up objects using their pincer grip, arranging fence around animals, scooping up legumes and corn into tractor, pushing the tractor around, using the rake to push legumes or corn around, or picking up handfuls of legumes and corn all strengthen muscles in the hands that are essential for writing as they grow older.
MIDLINE CROSSING a child’s ability to cross over from the left to right side of their bodies greatly affects reading and writing skills at a later stage.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS by counting the animals, loading the tractor so see how much legumes or corn fit into the back, arranging animals from largest to smallest or feeding animals according to their size, children are exposed to practical application of mathematical concepts.
LANGUAGE SKILLS children expand their vocabulary as concepts like behind, next to, inside and around are discussed. Imitating animal calls introduces children to the various sounds used in language.
IMAGINATIVE PLAY children are introduced to the world of farming and will get lost in the endless imaginary world it provides.
